That’s where the story of DAEBY began. My journey’s a bit backwards. I grew up in the UK, where, love it or hate it, the high street is packed with men’s grooming options for every budget and skin type. It was just… easy. Then, my job brought me to Asia.
I was blown away by the energy - the incredible food, the hot weather, the vibrant culture. But my skin? It was in full-blown rebellion. I was dealing with a brutal combination of high UV exposure, insane humidity, relentless urban pollution, and the skin-sapping cold of air conditioning. My skin didn’t stand a chance, and it really started to knock my confidence.
I went looking for a solution and hit another wall. The products I found were either packed with confusing ingredients, demanded a 12-step routine, or came with a crazy price tag. I remember thinking, “This is ridiculous. There MUST be a better way.”
And that was the lightbulb moment
It got me thinking about the irony of it all. Why do we treat showers, brushing teeth and fixing our hair as non-negotiable - but we completely neglect the largest organ of our body - our skin - which takes the direct hit from every urban stressor out there. It’s the first thing people see!
So, we decided to do things differently. We went deep down the rabbit hole. We knew the answer lay in simplicity and science, not in magic potions. We partnered with leading dermatologists from Korea - the epicenter of cutting-edge skincare, and focused on the cleanest, most effective ingredients. We obsessed over the latest R&D to create a system that was powerful yet simple.
And that’s how we landed on the name DAEBY. It’s derived from the Korean word ‘daebak’ (대박), which basically means “awesome!” or “epic win!”. We chose it because we truly believe that nailing your skincare is a total game-changer.
We don’t believe in miracle cures. We trust in the power of showing up for yourself. It’s the satisfaction of those incremental improvements - the daily ritual - that adds up to something huge. It’s about looking in the mirror and knowing you’re taking care of yourself. When you look great, you feel great. And that feeling empowers you to live your best life, every single day.
